Meet the Principal
"At Alcott We Work Hard and Are Kind to People!” this mantra is what characterizes my leadership and enthusiasm for serving the Alcott community. I am Burdena Alesia Rutter Johnson and I am the principal of Alcott Elementary school. I have served as the principal of Alcott for 3 years. I am a proud graduate of the eldest historically black institution (Wilberforce University) and I hold two advance degrees from Oakland University. I began my career with Pontiac School District in 2000. I have held the roles of Middle School Social Studies Teacher, High School Social Studies Teacher, Coordinator of the Teen Moms program, High School Assistant Principal, and High School Principal. While I have been committed to PSD, I have had the pleasure of serving in a significant number of leadership positions including MEAP Test Coordinator, Curriculum Lead Teacher, Department Chair, Committee Chairperson and Vice President of the Pontiac Association of School Principals. Since beginning my career as an educator, I have never wavered in my belief that the children of Pontiac deserve the best education possible. I believe in our children and I believe in our school system. It is my mission to lead Alcott to maintain a culturally rich engaging environment that leads children to both academic and social success. I am determined to drive children to demonstrate excellence at their highest capability.
